Wildlife and portrait artist ...... reflexologist and holistic massage therapist
Moraig has been an artist for many years.
Her foundation and basic knowledge of art history and techniques came from her school years. On leaving school, she spent six months as an apprentice learning how to restore old leadlight and stained glass windows and lamps as well as creating her own. She took a totally different route when a family acquaintance asked if she would like to take three years to learn how to restore antique porcelain. She qualified in the beautiful art and continued to do this until health issues forced her to stop.
From then on, she began to teach herself to work with pastels and colour pencils.
Bit by bit, after taking the plunge and exhibiting in exhibitions in Cape Town, her work started to sell.
Her Botanicals and Wildlife works have sold worldwide and she has done many commissioned portraits, many of children, a few wedding portraits and some pet ones.
'You can never stop learning,' she says. 'Other artists, new techniques, different locations and people you meet, all of these help you to keep growing in knowledge, keep experimenting and keep that inner fire that forces you hand to put pencil to paper burning. It's when I'm at my easel surrounded by pencils and dusty pastels...bringing a face - furry or smooth to life...that's when I really feel 'me.' '
